Deep Rovers
DSA personnel supervised the completion of the ABS Special Periodical Survey's for both Deep Rover 1 & 2. Our responsibilities included coordination with ABS, the procurement of all equipment, contract negotiations and the overall management of all aspects of this project including vehicle upgrades and the interface of the proprietary 3D HD IMAX camera, pan & tilt and HMI lighting systems. DSA Personnel performed the final check out dives for ABS and conducted all subsequent diving on the deep sea hydrothermal vent sites in the Atlantic for an IMAX documentary entitled "Aliens of the Deep", which is in IMAX theaters across the country now. DSA Personnel piloted Deep Rover 1 (the film ship) during every dive on this expedition including tandem dives with MIR 1 & 2 and Deep Rover 2, which was the first ever meeting of its kind in history on the ocean floor.
