Looking Glass - 46 Passenger Tourist Submarine Capable of Diving to 250 Feet (76m)

DSA management personnel were responsible for the coordination budgetary control and timely delivery of all aspects of the fabrication, reconstruction, installation, testing and certification by ABS and USCG of the "Looking Glass", a world class 46-passenger tourist submarine capable of diving to 76 meters (250 feet) up to 12 times a day. This sophisticated and complex vessel was completely disassembled and rebuilt under our supervision at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution in Fort Pierce, Florida from February 1999 to April 2000 and subsequently operated in West Palm Beach until June 2001 before being transported to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where it was being used for passenger carrying operations before being lost in a towing accident at sea while in transit between Cabo San Lucas and San Diego, California.
