In 1991 members of DSA were hired to rebuild and commission the two person research submersible Nekton Gamma. After a lengthy lay up the sub was totally renewed and brought back into class with ABS. The submersible was then sent to Caribbean Research Center on Lee Stocking Island Bahamas. Members of DSA set up a shore based facility, coordinated scientific projects, and piloted every mission. The sub operated for four years supporting scientific projects and making over seven hundred successful dives.
